As we enter November and officially begin Holiday Rush 2006, I am considering the months ahead and all of the activities to ensue.
The last classic event to take place each year is the implementation of New Year’s Resolutions. I know most people forget about their assured resolve as soon as the champagne is out of their system, but I take these things seriously (what, you’re surprised?).
So I pulled out last year’s list (which has been posted on my desk all year) to see where I stand.
Here were my 10 resolutions:
1. At least one night hike-in camping. (Check–sort of)
2. Take 3 week progressive climbing technique class and break through 5.10a (Check)
3. Climb outside (at least) once. (Hmm…quit climbing after moving away from gym. Tough to fulfill.)
4. Read one book per month (1/2 check. I’ve read 4.5 books so far this year.)
5. Create property insurance inventory video. (No progress to date)
6. Assess and implement long term retirement planning. (Check! Woo hoo!)
7. Create a disaster preparedness kit. (Not completed, but I have the shopping list from FEMA.)
8. Help Mike organize the garage. (What’s funny about this is that I wrote it for our old house, but it’s still true and still not done.)
9. Let my Pisces spirit shine through more often. (You be the judge.)
10. Be in the moment. (Actually, one of my books from item #4 has really helped with this. Yay Buddism.)
So I accomplished about half of what I set out to do this year. I think that’s pretty good considering my lofty self-expectations. What’s also not noted is all of the other BIG things that happened this year, like buying and selling a house, getting a promotion, and adopting Bella. Plus you can see how my focus on climbing in 2005 shifted to biking in 2006. Unexpected distractions and financial expectations, to say the least, but progressions that brought me deep satisfaction and joy. And progress is what it’s all about.
Where are your resolutions today? Share with us.
I’d say you did well! You have had a busy, eventful year! But in looking at this today the thing that stands out is YOUR BABY. That dog is going to be a horse! Every photo get much larger. love you

The vet says he thinks she’ll be smaller than Guinness, but that isn’t saying much! She got her final round of puppy shots this week and is officially a “grown up” dog who can go to the local dog park. Now if only it would stop raining we could actually take the pooches outside!

I sure blew my only New Year’s Reso … to sit and look at the ocean more. Though I might make it again. Or I make resolve not to make any resolutions. And then go sit and look at the ocean.

Laura, uless you change your ways big time you are not
going to go sit by the ocean. I think you will have much
less time in coming year. As long as you are happy that
is okay! Wes, keep the updates coming. Laura, I think maybe we are not getting updates from you because you
don’t want to take those ‘babies’ off the web! Good luck
on the new litter. love to all of you

What a year it has been when you see it all written down!
You did a great job on resolutions!! I have been thinking more about mine - setting up a site to keep in touch with family. I have been working with the one at church more and see how easy it can be. And I know I can get great help from Cruzio. First thing is a name. The one I like is probably too long to be realistic.
Saw your picture in the paper. Is it safe now for all of us to go to MOBO sometime soon?

Deborah, I actually have the perfect Web site name for you: whistlingdragonfly.com. What do you think? It’s not taken either.
I’m hoping it would be safe to go to Mobo now…but I have my annual review on Friday, so maybe we should wait and not jinx it. =)
And Sharon, I agree, Laura needs to post more updates. Between her site and mine all we see are puppy pictures!

What photo in paper? Puppies are nice photos and I like
seeing them but even more like seeing all of you. Good
to see comments from you Deborah. We have lost Michele
lately, where are you, Michele? She did call last night
and say she is becoming her mother! She tried calling
and I didn’t answer and she got very worried. It was her
dad’s fault because he didn’t tell her I was gone when
she got him on the cell phone earlier. love all of you

testing!
Comment by Michele — November 26, 2006 @ 11:33 am
Thanks for the post Michele! I have to “moderate” them before they go live, hence the delay. Mike and I were out celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary which I will post about later. Happy belated anniversary to you, too!

Westi, when I commented, it showed up right away. And I could see Michele’s even when she couldn’t (it was really me posting on her behalf the first time… the testing one was really her.) Do you know how this can be?

No clue! Hmmm….????
Comment by westi — November 27, 2006 @ 8:26 am
Ok… then this is a test post, just to make sure I wasn’t nuts last time. Feel free to delete, Westi.

Yep, it shows up right away for me.

I think once Westi allows you to comment, you will be allowed to comment without moderation.

Thanks for the clarification Mike! (Mike is a Cruzio colleague and Web/Mac guy extraordinare). I actually just noticed that when a “regular” commentor posts, such as you Laura, I receive an email telling me you have posted with only a link to delete. However when I receive a post from a “new” commentor, like Mike, I get a different email that asks me to approve or delete the comment. Mystery solved. I suppose this is probably in my settings somewhere.
